I'm Sylvia, a blogger, doodler, poet, (art-) journal keeper, avid reader and chronic website tinkerer.

This is my mini blog, basically a space where I share status updates, things I've read and watched and anything else that comes to mind.

Sylvia's Studio is my main blog, I also have a shop full of freebies. I can be found on Mastodon, Pixelfed and Bluesky

doomies episode 1

Just watched the first episode of Doomies on D+ and I love it. Reminds me so much of Gravity Falls (my husband said it reminded him of Buffy), highly recommended!

maybe it's not a mini journal

I have just printed the project I write about here as I'm one of those people who loves to do edits on paper. And it's 24 pages! The subtitle is "a mini journalling workshop" but I guess it's not so mini. And I need to write two chapters I've added in during my second editing pass, so who knows where it will end up!

chair yoga ftw!

I haven't updated my movement page in a while, but I did my ten minutes a day every day since I started, both with yoga and my hometrainer. We're in a heatwave right now, and normally that would mean I wouldn't exercise unless it was early in the morning. But now I don't grant myself that excuse :D Instead of rolling...

peace

Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone's face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will be many fruits, here in this world and the life to come. Henri Nouwen

editing win!

I've just finished the second editing pass of a project that was a pain to edit, also because I needed to copy paste in a lot of stuff from other documents but I DID it! It needs at least one more editing pass before I add it to my freebies, but that's going to be a lot less work, for sure. I will share more when it's...

Today my body was achy, probably due to the humidity. I decided look for a chair yoga video, because I know that even with an achy body, I still can do yoga, but gently. Fifteen minutes later I was feeling a LOT better 😀

Challenge, don't overdo - my yoga journey log 11-6

Today I've followed along this video (recommended by EllVee55 on Mastodon) and it reminded me that my body always leads. I skipped the standing parts after 2 seconds of attempting downward dog. My balance is still fried since abdominal surgery. I know I need the challenge, but I need that challenge in a quiet solo...

ingenious packaging

This is the (paper) box for my new pen, a Faber Castell Avori. After peeling the wrap off (tore that one so no picture) you see this: Then when you open the box... Gorgeous. But! Do you see the elastic? And then I realised why! When you remove the pen holder you have a pen case, the strap is for closure. PS Only after i...

yoga 10-6

I did this morning yin session today. I have tried to find other yin yoga practices on YouTube but I like Kassandra's teachings best. This one was rather challenging, but I managed it! Rather proud :)

yoga journal

Today I've followed 30 minute morning yin yoga and it was such a delight. I loved this more than yesterday, even if this was a little more challenging. I love that she teaches some adjustments you can do with the challenging ones. Yin yoga is a yoga of surrender, of silence and of gentle self care. It's the perfect yoga...

When I saw this video, I thought my every day, no excuses routine would be the home trainer. Then this morning I woke up, smiled, and thought to myself: "I don't need to choose, I can also do yoga, focus more on yin yoga, too!" I will post on my main blog (linked up top) why it's yoga. I looked up a yin yoga morning...

Murderbot book 3 and 4

This week, I've finished reading two books in the Murderbot series bij Martha Wells. book 3 - Artificial Condition ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️book 4 - Rogue Protocol ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐︎ I've loved reading both books so much. Book 3 gets a slightly higher rating because I loved a secondary character SO much. I don't understand some choices made...
